Dillon Falls Maternity Session

It’s official —  I LOVE shooting in Central Oregon.  The color palette of golds and greens and earthy tones.  How it lends itself to creating dark, moody black & white images.  Shooting as the sun is dipping behind ALL of the beautiful trees.  Dipping low and casting glorious golden light on my subjects!   It’s just so perfect.

Backing up a brief minute.  A)  I haven’t blogged IN A LONG TIME…. like when dinosaurs still roamed the earth…. Serious.  It’s been just about that long.  B) Quick recap: Husband and I worked in Antarctica another season (season 5),  traveled to some gorgeous beaches, ate delicious food and have traveled thousands of miles in between before relocating to Central Oregon.  We are happy to say we NOW live in Bend, Oregon!  Bend is much more populated than Enterprise (where we came from), which means more opportunities and yet it is close to many beautiful outdoor locations for outdoor activities.   C) More blog posts coming soon. . . . I promise.

Back to this gorgeous Oregon maternity session!  This adorable family and I met before sunset at Dillon Falls, right outside of Bend.  You can get to Dillon Falls by the Cascade Lakes Highway or if you are coming from Sunriver you can get to Dillon Falls from that direction as well.  It’s a great spot out of town to hike, for portraits or even an intimate elopement along the river and lava flows.  One word of caution is the mosquitos were horrendous at sunset!  Be warned.   Minus the pesky mosquitos we had a lovely shoot, we meandered along the trail stopping for photos; the light radiated golden goodness as we celebrated the new life that will soon be joining their sweet family soon.

P.S. Make sure to scroll to the bottom to see the cutest surprise guest at this maternity session!     Best wishes to this mama and family as they prepare for their newest addition.

This mama to be was absolutely radiant in these maternity photos.

Seriously, anyone who brings a KITTEN to their photoshoot is my new best friend!!
