I am excited to announce I just received an email this morning to inform me I am an approved “Green Bride” Vendor. I am super pleased to be a part of a community of other green wedding vendors, not to mention I love the color green! Planning a wedding can be at times a stressful, overwhelming task. The Green Bride Guide is an invaluable resource for those brides who want to plan a more eco-friendly wedding celebration.

Gwen Shoemaker Photography is approved as a Green Bride Guide green wedding vendor.
Denver, Colorado, March, 3, 2o11 – Gwen Shoemaker Photography, has been selected by the Green Bride Guide, the #1 green wedding website, for inclusion in their Green Wedding Directory www.greenbrideguide.com/directory.
The Green Bride Guide is the most comprehensive and credible green wedding resource online. The Directory is like a Yellow Pages for green weddings that provides a centralized resource of green wedding vendors, searchable by geographic area.
This year, almost 50% of couples are looking to include green elements in their events, and 85% are concerned about greenwashing, the passing off of non-green companies as eco-friendly. To address these concerns, the Green Bride Guides screens all vendors in the directory and displays their green practices in their profiles. Gwen Shoemaker Photography received a four-leaf rating from the Green Bride Guide.
As a small business owner and a big fan of the planet we inhabit, I believe it is important to be eco-conscious and sustainably driven. I practice the three “R’s” – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. My process is digitally driven – from the cameras I shoot with, offering online proofs as opposed to physical proofs, to delivering the final edited images on CD. Upon request I gladly provide electronic price lists and wedding agreements. I use rechargeable batteries for my camera bodies and external speedlite flashes. When their life span comes to an end those batteries are properly recycled to reduce landfill waste. I also opt to walk or bike to meetings, shoots and everyday errands whenever possible. – Gwen Shoemaker Photography
“When my husband Barry and I were planning our wedding in 2006-07, we were surprised by how little information was available to help us make eco-friendly choices. That’s why I’m excited to be able to offer couples the Green Bride Guide Directory,” said Kate Harrison. “By including vendors like Gwen Shoemaker Photography, couples will know that they are working with vetted green vendors who truly value the environment. Since more than 50% of the wedding budget is spent at the local level, the Directory is an essential tool for couples looking to support the local green economy.”
