Gluten-Free Guide to Bend, Oregon {2025 List} Restaurants, Coffee Shops & More.

A couple years ago I cut out gluten and began learning to live a gluten-free lifestyle. Let me tell you, this decision was NOT by choice and it did not come easily (some days it still isn’t easy). Dining out became frustrating, with unmarked menus, not knowing how things were prepared, feeling like you have to play the guessing game with the potential of getting ill after you eat. If you are living with any dietary restrictions, I feel your pain.

After years of digestive issues and other symptoms such as chronic fatigue, extreme brain fog I found out I had developed an auto-immune disease and decided to further seek answers after various doctors would run the standard blood test, informing me my levels were fine and to get retested in a year. After some research I decided to make an appointment at SHIFT Functional Medicine in Bend, OR the progress has been life-changing.

As my journey continued I began making a metal list of “safe” places to eat and realized this information may be helpful to others. This Gluten-Free Guide to Bend, Oregon will be an ongoing project, so feel free to reach out if you have any personal favorites to recommend in Bend.

Please note while I am gluten-free, I do not have Celiacs disease; I recognize some locations on this list that are gluten-free are not celiac safe. Please be advised to do your due diligence while eating out in Bend. Menus and supply chains change and I’ve learned that something that was once gluten-free may no longer be. It is always advised to let your server know you have dietary restrictions and allergies and ask about any cross-contamination risks (here’s looking at you, shared fryers).

Here’s the Gluten Free Guide to Bend.

Favorite Gluten-Free Treats in Bend

Blissful Spoon – 65 NW Newport Ave, Bend, OR 97703

Located downtown, Blissful Spoon is known for their gluten free pastries and grain-free granola made in house from scratch! The flourless cakes and tea cookies are a favorite. A great spot for brunch or baked goods (they provide treats for cafes around town including some of the goodies offered at Cafe Des Chutes). While everything on the dining menu is not automatically gluten free, it can be made gluten free by request. Their servers are knowledgeable and this bistro takes food allergies seriously, stating they have a separate area for food prep for those with celiac or severe food allergies.

Rumor has it there is a new speakeasy (cocktails, mocktails with spanish & moroccan inspired cuisine) under this delightful baked-goods brick and mortar.

Cafe Des Chutes – 50 SE Scott St #22, Bend, OR 97702

I LOVE this cafe. Yes, I would love it even more if I could eat all of the gluten but they have many gluten and dairy free options that I am never left unsatisfied or feeling left out.

It’s a favorite coffee shop of mine because I like to imagine I’ve been whisked away to Europe. Their camino shell marker always makes me smile(IYKYK). Good vibes, good people and good selection of gluten and dairy free treats such as gluten free breakfast sandwiches, banana brownies (try them warmed up), and cute little bundt cakes. The lemon poppyseed is my favorite but there are often a variety to choose from including a runner up favorite, marionberry.

Too Sweet Cakes – 1012 SE Cleveland Ave #1A, Bend, OR 97702

It’s been a minute since I’ve visited Too Sweet Cakes … up until recently. I discovered they make gluten free donuts from Dilly Dally Coffee (see note below). Now I frequent TSC when I’m in the mood for a donut. Flavors include Chocolate, sprinkles, maple and other delights. I’ve been told gluten from gluten eating folks they prefer the gluten free cake-like donuts to the gluten filled treats. Seriously, they are super satisfying and don’t skimp on the sugar.

Bend Breakfast Burrito – 1900 NE Division St.

The only gluten free breakfast burrito I have found in Bend that is worth eating. Gooey, eggy, potatoey, delicious. Take your pick of green or red salsa to smoother your burrito in. So delicious, you’ll want to eat one everyday. The one caveat is, and it is not always convenient and personally prevents me from eating them more frequently, is you need to special order these gluten free burritos. You can place your special order to pick up your burritos the next day (I believe there is an option to order and have it within an hour or two at the Midtown cart) or they can be placed for delivery as well.

Fix & Repeat 555 NW Arizona Ave. Suite 50
Bend, Oregon 97703

Not going to lie. Somehow this vibrant plant-based cafe fell off my radar. I need to add it to my rotation. Some good-for-you food awaits in smoothies, fresh pressed juices, gluten free smoothie bowls (skip the nuts if you have nut allergies) and toasts. There are gluten free toast options as opposed to bagels but I’m not sure if they have a designated toaster to avoid all those dreaded gluten crumbs! I’d consider taking my toast to-go to toast in the safety of my toaster and add the toppings. My favorite juice is the SCHRUTE FARMS.

Please double check this information when you dine. Supply chains change and so do menus.

Crave -335 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR 97702

A relatively new restaurant on the west side of town featuring a small menu of tacos, bowls, artisan margaritas. Functional coffee (cortyceps) and breakfast** coming soon. **I’m not sure what the breakfast menu will entail and if that will be gluten-free.

Salud-431 NW Franklin Ave, Bend, OR 97703OR 97702

Menu states they are proud to offer a fully gluten free, vegan and organic menu and I’m hooked! From fresh juices, smoothies, and organic eats located in an easy to get to location downtown. Open til 3 pm and closed Sundays; a great workday location for breakfast or lunch.

NW Raw

PERMANENTLY CLOSED FALL 2024 🙁

**This closure hit hard as it was one of my favorite locations in town for juices and a completely gluten free menu. RIP gluten free avocado toast. I’m guessing high rent and the increase in the supply chain was one of the reasons for the closure. As everything get increasingly more expensive in Bend, business struggle, and I’m sure we will see more closures in town.**

Organic, gluten free, plant based. Delicious. The place to go if you are craving waffles or need a healthy pick me up as you heading up to the mountain. Great smoothies, bowls, and fresh juices which they also sell in to-go glass vessels. A great location to meet friends, have a meeting or evening post up with your laptop to get some work done while refueling your system.

Favorite Restaurants with Gluten Free Options

A few of my favorite locations to dine out in Bend, Oregon. Clearly marked menus, knowledgeable servers and gluten free substitutions all make dining out a little easier.

Please remember that all of these locations may not be celiac safe. Please do your own research and talk to your server.

Pho 88 -330 SW Powerhouse Drive Bend, OR

Located in the Old Mill District

Egg roll lovers rejoice! Pho 88 is now open in the Old Mill District and has an option for gluten free egg rolls among other things. The menu at Pho 88 clearly marks gluten free dishes and indicates items that can be requested gluten free. From appetizers, rice dishes to noodle bowls and of course pho there are a wide variety of colorful, mouthwatering meals to choose from. The owner of this authentic Vietnamese restaurant is super familiar with the importance of gluten-free food as she has friends and family who are gluten free. Did I mention she uses gluten-free sauces and has a gluten-free fryer (aka fried chicken wings!!) Yay!!

Blue Eyes Burgers and Fries –706 NE Greenwood Ave #100

Casual midtown burger joint serving specialty smash burgers, fries, ice cream as well as cocktails and beer. Bend has it’s fair share of burger joints but what makes this place special is their designated fryer, local beef and lettuce wrap upon request (no gluten free buns).

Dear Mom Cafe – 320 SW Century Dr #410, Bend, OR 97702 (in the Safeway shopping center)

Mouthwatering, flavorful, Thai food is something I will never get sick of. Dear Mom Cafe’s hit the palate in all the right ways. Pad Thai sans fried shallots is my go to and it never disappoints. Unfortunately, there is not a gluten free option for Mom’s fried chicken but plenty other protein options to choose from like shrimp, chicken and tofu. Sneaky sauces can be hidden in some Thai dishes, so I always like to clarify with staff and have always been met with a kind and helpful reply. Don’t forget to wash it all down with a Thai iced jasmine green tea.

La Rosa – 2763 NW Crossing DR, Bend, OR

This modern Mexican kitchen has been a Bend staple for 20 years and I’m still sad their south side location closed years ago. Head over to NWX for margaritas (try the Damiana) for a fantastic happy hour. While Mexican food can be tricky to navigate (flour is sauces, flour snuck into corn tortillas or shared fryers) our server was very helpful and let us know some gluten free options.

Life and Time: Free Range Fast Food

Healthy fast food that has you covered with located on the west and east side. If you are looking for convenience and a healthy option, this fast food joint is a great option. Chicken strips and fries are gluten-free. I believe everything else on their menu including bowls, salads, burritos are gluten free or have an option for gluten free (gf bun/wraps for extra charge). Life & Time’s practice includes using ingredients that are organic and sustainable practices and free from processed sugar.

Millworks Pub – **Updated PERMANENTLY CLOSED SPRING 2025. 🙁**

Step into Mill Works Pub, locally owned, elevated pub fare, local beer featured on tap and craft cocktails & mocktails. Their menu clearly indicates gluten free options or those that can be made gluten free. Mouth watering (AND GLUTEN-FREE) Korean Fried Chicken (pictured at the top of the page) is not to be missed. I repeat, the Korean Fried Chicken is NOT TO BE MISSSED. Did I mention their fryer is completely gluten free? PHO 88 inherited the gf fryer and is in the former Millworks Pub space.

Neighbor Rotisserie **Updated PERMANENTLY CLOSED SPRING 2025. 🙁**

This local neighborhood eatery on the west side offers plenty of flavorful gluten free options along with a sweet spot to catch up with your neighbors over a drink. Owned by the folks who brought us Blue Eyes Burgers (and formerly Jackson’s Corner), you know it will be good.

Mountain Burger
2747 NW Crossing Dr, Bend, OR 97703

Another popular place in town to grab a burger. Best enjoyed in house rather than taking it to go. They are very accommodating to gluten free folks with gluten free buns, lettuce wraps, bowls and a menu clearly marked for which items can be made gluten free. They are accommodating to other dietary needs with vegan and vegetarian options by offering vegan cheese and vegan mayonnaise. Hand cut Kennebec fries hit the spot every time with no need to worry about fryer cross-contamination.

A quick note: The sweet potato fries are marked gluten free but in the past I was told they had received a supply delivery of sweet potato fries that were not gluten free. Verifying gluten free offerings is always a good idea.

Spice Land – 945 Northwest Bond Street, Bend, OR 97703

Once you’ve tried Spice Land you will already be planning your next visit to this Indian Restaurant. Wow! Spice Land is incredibly flavorful, has many dishes to choose from (can be ordered as a la carte or Thali). While there are some menu items that can’t be enjoyed (RIP Naan), all of the curries are GLUTEN FREE. I repeat ALL CURRIES ARE GLUTEN FREE.

When I try a new Indian restaurant I usually begin by rating the Butter Chicken. The rich and creamy dish is one of my favorites. Spice Land Butter Chicken gets 5 stars from me. A couple other dishes that were fantastic were the Lamb Shank and the Mutter Paneer. Everyone at our table of six was extremely satisfied with their meal.

Wildwood 274550 SW Industrial Way #120, Bend, OR 97702 (in the Box Factory)

Wildwood is one to add to your rotation! Seriously, how do more people not know WildWood exists? Located in the Box Factory (in the old Brown Owl location), the woodsy, PNW cabin inspired bar, is great place to grab a cocktail – HIGHLY RECOMMEND pre-gaming it here before a summer concert at Hayden Homes Amphitheater (it’s a short walk away) or grabbing dinner on your way home from work. The Budda Bowls are filling and the price can’t be beat. Also exciting is their fried chicken is gluten-free and so is their fryer (this needs to be hyped-up more). Check them out!!
