Express Headshot Session at the Old Mill District

Casual outdoor headshot session for a woman outdoors.

The Old Mill District, in the heart of Bend, was our chosen location for this Express Headshot session. As a hairstylist, my client needed one standout photo for her bio on the salon’s ‘Meet the Stylist’ page. We wanted the result to feel natural, relatable and welcoming especially since her profession is in the beauty industry. In 30 minutes and with one outfit we were able to create various looks, both seated and standing all within about 15 feet, proving you don’t need an expansive space for a headshot session.

Express Headshot sessions are just one of several headshot services that I offer. These sessions are no more than 30 minutes and quick and easy. They are highly recommended if you need one quick headshot, are comfortable in front of the camera and have been photographed before. If this will be your first professional headshot session I would highly recommend either the Signature Headshot session or my FAV, the Not So Corporate Headshot session since they allow for more time to get comfortable in front of the camera.

If you are looking for a mix of headshots and a more in depth session that includes behind-the-scenes, lifestyle imagery and tools of the trade, a personal branding session might be for you. I can’t recommend a personal branding session enough if you show up frequently online, are a blogger, work in a creative field or own a business that needs a website refresh or want to standout online. Check out this personal branding session to get a sense of what a personal branding session entails.

Pro tip: Book your headshot before you actually need a headshot.

I often get inquiries from clients who say they need a super last minute headshot for a press release, business profile or some sort of publication that needs their bio and photo within a couple of days. Trust me, there is no better feeling than having a recent headshot (or maybe a couple to choose from) ready to deliver. It’s the worst feeling to go into a headshot session feeling rushed and that you have nothing to wear (trust me, I’ve learned from personal experience). Don’t wait until you need a headshot to book your headshot.

If you are a business professional or creative updating your headshot every couple of years is a must. It’s also recommended when you’ve had a drastic change of appearance or change of hair color. Getting a new headshot should be on your professional check list of ‘things to do’. Think of updating your headshot the same as updating your work wardrobe.

While this Express Headshot session was outside on a spring day, a studio session is a great year-round option for those who may prefer a more traditional backdrop OR when there isn’t time to deal with the unpredictability nature of weather in Central Oregon.

Here is an example of a very fun, laid-back and modern headshot session in the studio.
