I’ve been dreaming about that warm summer sun and those long days lately. In other words, it seems like the ideal time to blog Malika and Michael’s bright, colorful, and fun backyard summer anniversary party.
First off, their modern Portland home was the absolute perfect location to celebrate their one year anniversary. They decided to have a sweet, private elopement the previous summer and wanted to have a party to celebration their love with family and friends. Everything about their celebration was carefully thought out, incorporating thoughtful details like bubbles and silly string to entertain the kids, an instax camera for guests to include a photo and note in their cookbook guestbook, reciting of vows (and a bonus ring!) to create the perfect celebration.
Secondly, their aesthetic was spot on. The bright color pops and subtle decor transformed their backyard into the most delightful place for an outdoor celebration. The guests dressed in bright, summer attire, enjoyed an endless supply of chilled rosé (my fav), delicious home-style cooking food, and danced the evening away in M&M’s backyard. Also! The cakes. You’ll see them below but ding-dang, I think these get an A+ for creativity and deliciousness.
Backyard weddings, elopements and anniversary parties have been some of my favorite moments to document over the years. Inviting those closest to you, to celebrate a memorable event in the sacred space of your home is so special and those celebrations are always filled with so much soul and warmth. You could really feel the love and joy at Malika and Michael’s party. And I sure do love a good “house party.” 😉
Thank you for having Brent and I capture memories for you two.
xox,
Gwen
